Laura Dreyer attended the Berklee College of Music in addition to studying privately with Joe Viola, Joe Henderson, Joe Lovano, Lyle Mays, Hal Stein, and Jim McNeely. She has performed with her own band at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (Washington, DC), the Syracuse Jazz Festival, as well as many NYC venues, and has a CD out which features her original compositions which is available on CDbaby.com. Laura has performed as a sideperson with Diva (lead alto), Dr. Billy Taylor, Nenna Freelon, Walter Bishop Jr., Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr., Dom Salvador, Helcio Milito, Portinho, and many others and has toured and performed extensively in the US, Japan, and Europe as a jazz artist. She is a three time recipient of grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. Laura was recently awarded two grants from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council for live performances in 2010. Laura is very active as a music educator, having served on the faculties of the Jamey Aebersold jazz clinics, Cazedero Music and Arts Camp, and the New York Pops Salute to Music program. She is currently a faculty member in the Jazz Department of the prestegious Hoff-Barthelson Music School in Scarsdale, New York where she teaches jazz woodwinds, theory, conducts ensembles, and leads jazz improvisation classes, as well as The Church St. School for Music and Art in Tribeca, where Laura teaches woodwinds and directs The Church St. Jazz Ensemble. She regularly conducts clinics and workshops at high schools and colleges which have included The Berklee College of Music and The Jazz Improv Convention. Dreyer was a featured columnist in Saxophone Journal for five years, and contues to write for various music publications including Jazz Improv Magazine, and Sax on the Web.In addition to her music career, Laura is a professional voice actor and astrologer.
